Mel Cowan was born and raised in Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in film production. He performs regularly at UCB with the long-running team Sentimental Lady, and has performed in numerous other shows at the theatre, including thirty:30, Smug Rock Nation, and Sketch Cram, with a host of professional sillymakers. He has appeared on Reno 911!, Parks and Recreation, and been featured in several commercials in variations on his signature role as "Weird-Looking Guy." Also, through the magic of editing, he seems to be the one person who actually dies in the beloved children's film Meet Dave, starring Eddie Murphy. He is currently working on several screenplays and a novel, and spends an inordinate amount of time with his dog and collection of odd musical instruments.
