LEAVES OF ABSENCE

Requests for a leave of absence may be approved by the Training Center Manager if the student demonstrates that such a leave is imperative. Requests must be submitted in writing to the school director.

Leaves are granted for only serious reasons, at the discretion of the Academic Supervisor. A leave of absence will be granted for serious illness or injury if the student can provide a doctor's note. Leaves of absence will also be granted in the event of a death in the student's family, provided that the student can provide any requested information. Other circumstances are dealt with on a case-to-case basis. Decisions in these other circumstances will be made at the discretion of the Training Center Manager and the Academic Supervisor.

If the leave is approved, the student, upon his or her return, will be placed in a course at the same level in which he or she left. The student will be expected to start this new course over at the first session, regardless of how far along the student was in the previous course when the leave of absence began.

If the student has not participated in a UCB Training Center course within the past two years, the student should contact the Training Center Manager to see which level they will be re-admitted to.
