Improv 101 — Improv Basics

Saturdays 3-6pm starting Aug 07, 2010
Cost: $350

Students will learn the fundamentals of long-form improvisation. Core concepts covered include using character agreement to make your scenes succeed, developing character, character status, object and environment work, “playing at the top of your intelligence,” and heightening (finding ways to make your scenes get funnier from start to finish).

This course also introduces the specific vocabulary of the UCB Training Center.

This course meets for 8 sessions that are each 3 hours long. At the end of the course, students will take part in a class performance at the UCB Theatre. Graduation is also contingent upon students seeing at least two improvised shows at the UCB Theater before the end of the course.

Eugene Cordero

Eugene Cordero is an actor and improviser who performed every Saturday night at UCBTNY as a member of REUBEN WILLIAMS. He is a 1/3 of the sketch group BUFFOONS and also performs around the country with the Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company. Prior to joining Reuben Williams, Eugene was a member of UCBNTY Harold Teams CREEP and DECOSTER. Other UCBTNY credits include: Gun Love, Secret Slut, Van Gogh's Path, Hi-five, and Dance with Bears.

In the past, Eugene improvised with Comedy Sportz NY and Chicago City Limits. He attended Marymount Manhattan College, receiving a BFA in Acting. Check out more stuff about Eugene at www.eugenecordero.com
